Maintenance works in the channel of an engineered watercourse (historically trained to pass flood flows without damage) where erosion and sedimentation had formed numerous deposits along both banks and at crossings with transport and utility infrastructure. Exposed deposit surfaces were becoming overgrown with wetland vegetation and trees, further reducing channel capacity and impeding the passage of suspended load and ice.
